Panerai is a luxury watch brand with a unique heritage rooted in the Italian Navy. Founded in Florence in 1860, Panerai originally supplied precision instruments to the Regia Marina Italiana. History and Heritage
Panerai was founded by Giovanni Panerai in Florence in 1860. The brand developed the Radiomir and Luminor luminous compounds used in the first dive watches for the Italian Navy in the 1930s and 1940s. The Luminor model debuted in 1949. Panerai transitioned to civilian production in the 1990s and uses Swiss movements manufactured in-house at its Neuchâtel facility.
