Pre-owned Rolex Daytona ref. 116520 (2016) was initially an early 2000s release, remaining in production until around 2016, when Rolex started rolling out the first generation of steel-and-ceramic bezel Daytonas. It’s particularly special because ref. 116520 was among the first Rolexes to use the caliber 4130, the brand’s first in-house automatic chronograph movement. The 4130 was the go-to engine for many years and only recently bowed out of production to make way for its successor, caliber 4131. Still, collectors continue to gravitate towards these watches both for their importance in Rolex’s overall history and their sleek, steel-on-steel aesthetic. The example you see here pairs the durable steel finish with a white dial. Silver-ringed sub-dials take their usual place on the dial, with Chromalight batons serving as the hour markers.
