Pre-owned Rolex Milgauss ref 116400GV (2015) is one of the most distinctive and unconventional watches Rolex has ever produced. Released in 2007, the ref. 116400 marked the return of the Milgauss collection after years of absence from the catalog. Rather than simply recreating a vintage model, Rolex combined design elements from several important Milgauss references to create something entirely new. The smooth bezel pays tribute to the classic ref. 1019, while the playful orange lightning-bolt seconds hand recalls the original ref. 6541 from the 1950s. At launch, Rolex made the watch with either a black or white dial, but the most intriguing version was the ref. 116400GV you see here. The “GV” stands for Glace Verte, French for “green glass,” a reference to the watch’s remarkable green-tinted sapphire crystal. It was the first time Rolex had successfully produced a colored sapphire crystal, and despite its innovation, the brand never added it as an option for any other collection. The subtle green halo it creates around the dial gives the watch a personality unlike anything else in the Rolex lineup. Rolex ultimately discontinued the entire Milgauss collection in 2023, bringing an end to one of the brand’s most unique watches. Shop Rolex Milgauss Collection
