Pre-owned Rolex GMT-Master II ref. 16710 (2001 – 2002) is perhaps one of the most iconic iterations of the famed pilot’s watch. When the Rolex GMT debuted in the 1950s, it initially had a red and blue bezel insert to help distinguish between day and night. While Rolex has added other colorways to the lineup since then, the Pepsi remains one of the most recognizable and coveted. The GMT Master II came to market in the late 1980s, eventually replacing the original collection and bringing with it a newly independent GMT hand. That first generation had a thicker case to accommodate the new movement. The ref. 16710 you see here, followed shortly after with a thinner movement and a more wearable case. The result was the perfectly proportioned GMT with more functionality than before. The GMT collection continues to grow, but to many purists, ref. 16710 is the pinnacle and a collection must-have.
