Pre-owned Rolex Submariner ref. 116610 (2019). The Rolex Submariner has certainly come a long way since its release back in the 1950s. In addition to ramping up its water resistance, Rolex has since expanded the collection to include a broader range of metal options, bezel and dial colors, and even added a date to the dial. Ref. 116610 is one of the more fascinating releases in recent years. When it launched in 2010, it replaced the much-beloved, long-running ref. 16610. The aluminum bezel gave way to a tougher ceramic bezel, and the case, which stayed the same at 40mm, took a slightly broader stance on the wrist with larger crown guards and broader lugs. Rolex didn’t leave out the dial either. Now coined “Maxi,” it has larger hour markers and broader hands than ref. 16610. As it so often goes, this model was eventually discontinued to make way for even more upgrades via current production ref. 126610.
