Produced throughout the 1960s and 1970s, it helped define what many collectors still picture when they think of a traditional Rolex. It has a 36mm Oyster case, fluted bezel, acrylic crystal, and Jubilee bracelet. Even decades later, the formula still works. That’s a big reason why the 1601 is still so popular today. One of the most interesting design elements on this Datejust is the pie pan dial. Unlike modern flat dials, pie pan dials slope downward at the outer edge toward the hour markers, creating an angular profile that resembles an upside-down pie pan when viewed from the side.
