Originally introduced in the 1980s as a purpose-built mechanical chronograph for the Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team, the Chronomat has since become the brand’s flagship luxury sports watch. This example features a 42mm stainless steel case outfitted with Breitling’s signature rider-tab bezel. Originally developed to protect the crystal and make the bezel easier to grip and rotate, the raised tabs at the quarter-hour positions have become one of the Chronomat’s defining design elements. The striking blue dial is contrasted by black tri-compax chronograph sub-dials for excellent legibility and a sporty, high-contrast appearance.
