It would also upgrade the 40mm case you see here to feature more robust crown guards and lugs, and give the dial modern “Maxi” hour markers. Those upgrades were certainly integral to the Submariner’s forward momentum, but many collectors still prefer the aesthetics and proportions of the 5-digit era.
