Pre-owned Rolex Day-Date ref 118238 (2002) replaced the long-running 5-digit ref. 18238, featuring polished lugs instead of brushed gold and more solid bracelet links. Overall, it feels heavier on the wrist but has a similar, all-gold aesthetic as its predecessor, albeit slightly more contemporary. Furthermore, this model sports the same caliber 3155 as its predecessor. This model has since been discontinued to make way for its successor, ref. 128238. However, we have a handsome example with a discontinued tapestry dial for sale here in excellent secondhand condition.
