Early Mark I models kept the 3, 6, and 9 numerals in white gold with no luminescent fill, which looked clean but felt like a step back for a watch built around legibility. Rolex corrected that with the Mark II. The Arabic numerals are now fully luminescent, matching the rest of the dial and making a noticeable difference in low light. It also features slightly longer hands, which better suit the 39mm case and improve overall balance. Everything else stays true to the Explorer formula.
