Pre-owned Grand Seiko Heritage Collection ref SBGA415 (2022) is one of the Spring Drive models inspired by Japan’s traditional 24 sekki seasonal calendar. This reference reinterprets the 1967 62GS, a landmark watch in Grand Seiko history, not only for being the brand’s first automatic model, but also for introducing the design language that still defines the brand today. The case features the clean lines, broad surfaces, and distortion-free facets achieved through Zaratsu polishing, along with the wide, bezel-free dial opening that characterized the original 62GS. The dial is a soft, light gray textured surface meant to evoke Taisetsu, the deep snows of midwinter in the Japanese mountains. It’s a subtle, atmospheric design that shifts beautifully with changing light. Inside, the SBGA415 is powered by the Spring Drive caliber 9R65, hand-assembled at the Shinshu Watch Studio and known for combining quartz-level accuracy with the sweep of a mechanical movement. The result is a refined, seasonally inspired Grand Seiko that highlights both craftsmanship and the brand’s signature aesthetic philosophy.
